Vanessa with hubby Dave

Vanssesa has a really good Country voice and has a very infectious laugh and a lovely personality to go with it!

I know perhaps a lot of you might not have heard of her but she really is worth listening to!

Comments; Sorry Guy's I had to leave this page in!

This was the write  up on the website of Country Artist Mike A after doing our September Camp Out!

The Friday night is the get-together night, a social evening with a Mexican theme and plenty of good music supplied by Paul the DJ. The thing which really stands out is everyone knows everyone and they really are friends out to have a good time, and not afraid to let their hair down and have a laugh at their own expense; none more so than Alan and Joe who love to dance, much to their wive's amusement at times. It seems Alan's favourite dance is to the song "Commitment" and his better half Barbara took great pleasure video-ing him shaking his bum around, and she assured me she would send me a copy. All evening the repartee flowed thick and fast and we had a great time, especially when Alan took Chris out to do the dance that goes with Garth Brooke's song "Friends in Low Places" where the gent hoists the lady's leg up repeatedly, which, when you're wearing a gun can be extremely hazardous! I'll leave it to your imagination as to the comments that were flying around. Another hilarious moment for Chris and I was when we went back to the tent to go to bed and found that the blow-up mattress had gone down and was a little on the soggy side. Chris got into bed and the air moved over to my side, then when I got in she went up a few inches. It struck us funny as every time one of us moved the whole bed moved and we couldn't stop laughing. Unfortunately sound travels and we were asked the next morning what had been going on!

Saturday started with a table-top sale, followed by Madeline, Paul's wife teaching some new dances and we were chuffed when we were asked to show everyone the steps to a dance called "Skaters", which, although quite simple to do, is a nice dance. Another dance they learned was the "Butterfly Waltz" which we've been doing for years but it just goes to show how different regions of the country do different dances. There was a quick draw competition and Horse-shoe throwing so there was plenty going on through the afternoon if you were interested leading up to the evening get-together which was over to me to earn my keep. The theme for the evening was men in Gambler's and the ladies in their ballgowns and, as usual, they did us proud. During my second break there was a raffle and a celebration for Paul the DJ and Barry who were both Birthday Boys (The time flew by and in no time it was time for the "Trilogy" and "Best of Friends" to round off the evening, then it was back to the soggy blow-up mattress. Sunday morning we all packed up everything, said our fond farewells, and went our separate ways 'til the next time having had a very enjoyable weekend thanks to Fran and Joe.

October Camp Out 2006

This was an eventful  one (as usual!)

At Brean Western week  had met  a lovely young lady called Vanessa, who just happened to be a Country singer! We got on really well with her and Dave her husband and manager.

We told them about our camp out and invited them to come up and asked Vanessa if she would like to do a couple of spots on the Friday night, which she was pleased to do and she went down really well!

We had Dobbs'y booked for the Saturday night, anyway just as Dave placed the last piece of equipment into his van on Saturday morning Dobbs'y phoned to say he was not well enough to come.

As usual we had a few surprises,

As I have already explained Dobb'sy called us to say he couldn't make it due to ill health,( we wish him better health for 2007!) So Vanessa kindly volunteered to step in,so poor David had to unload all the equipment again & set it all back up,While Vanessa & myself were going through what songs she should sing, also planning a little surprise for ALan as it was his birthday! Alan is a founder member of our great team of Marsalls.  It was great to be able to embarrass him and no one enjoyed it more than his wife Barbara who helped mastermind the whole thing! Alan is well known for his line dance to commitment, as we all give him plenty of stick as his spectacular hip girations and some say girly dance movements are wonderful entertainment! ( I think they're all jealous Alan!) Any way we got Vanessa to get him up on stage to sing happy birthday to him and present him with his cake, just when he thought the worst was over Vanessa had the cake taken to his table for him and told him she'd heard about his favourite dance and she was going to sing commitment for him and he had to dance it!

I don't think he'll forget that in a hurry!
